Nuna is one of, if not the, best person to work with - she’s so understanding and literally knows me better than I know myself. She’s the definition of a bright, amazing, talented person and I think I speak for the company when I say she’s going to be such an amazing artistic director!”

We are delighted to announce that Nuna Sandy has been appointed as our new Artistic Director and joint-CEO.

Nuna grew up in Islington and has worked with us since 2018, and as Associate Artistic Director since 2021. She’s already shaped so much of how we work, including by establishing Black Is Safe, an affinity group for young Black members to come together and express themselves, and by leading our Deep Dives, which look at how we work with, listen to and learn from young people who wouldn’t otherwise walk through our doors. Company Three’s Fifteen Fund, launched to mark the company’s Fifteenth Birthday, will help continue this work and legacy.

Before joining us, Nuna was a member of the Olivier award-winning company Boy Blue Entertainment, ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company, and one of the founding members of the dance group Plague. She has worked as a teacher, choreographer, movement director and Facilitator for companies including Lyric Hammersmith and London Studio Centre, and has choreographed performances at Sadlers Wells, Barbican Centre, the Place and the Pleasance Theatre.

Nuna takes over from Ned Glasier, who founded the company in 2008, and during his time as Artistic Director developed, devised and directed more than 40 plays with teenagers, working with artists including Emily Lim, Inua Ellams and Alice Birch.

Nuna says:

‘I grew up going to youth clubs in Islington and I always knew at one point in my life I would facilitate a residential, run a session, lead a project, be the adult playing table tennis, listening to a teenager then supporting and empowering them to find the right answers and express themselves in various ways. Company Three does this and much more and it's a privilege to get to be Artistic Director here.’

Ned Glasier says:

‘I am so excited that the Company Three board has appointed Nuna as our new Artistic Director in what I know was a hugely detailed and rigorous process. Over the last five years,I’ve come to know Nuna as an artist of real integrity, deeply devoted to young people in Islington-a community in which she herself grew up. Nuna will lead Company Three with passion, care and artistry - with young people’s voices at its heart.’

Company Three’s Co-Chairs, Silvia Dobrovich and Natasha Bonnelame, who led the recruitment process, say:

‘We are absolutely delighted to welcome Nuna as our new Artistic Director. As we celebrate our fifteenth anniversary and our newly achieved NPO status, we're excited to see the dynamicand thoughtful approach that Nuna will bring to the work she produces and delivers with young people. We know Nuna will strengthen the values that have made Company Three so loved by our young people in Islington, and our supporters more widely.’

We are so excited to see Nuna stepping into this role in January, and can’t wait to see what she does with it.
