When This Is Over wins Community Project of the Year.

We are delighted to announce that our project When This Is Over won Community Project of the Year at The Stage Awards 2022.

When This Is Over is a new play co-created with our members, the generation who will feel the impacts of climate change and the pandemic the most, telling stories of their lives so far and their hopes for the future. Throughout 2021, we worked with dozens of youth theatres to develop their own versions of the play, and schools and colleagues the world over – almost 50 groups in total from as far as the US, Canada and New Zealand – have joined the project to date. Our own version was scheduled to premiere in London in October 2021 but was postponed due to positive Covid cases within the company.

Productions have already taken place in Manchester, Plymouth, Reading and West Lothian, with in excess of 40 more scheduled. To help participating groups, we created a free blueprint of ideas, activities and devising exercises. Participants could also access online workshops and join a community comprising other young people, teachers, and facilitators, to build networks and extend the spirit of collaboration, central to our work.

The Stage said ‘Company Three’s work is rooted in creating with the communities it serves rather than for them. Coinciding with #COP26, their project When This is Over is an ambitious, collaborative attempt to amplify the stories of young people and their hopes for the future.’

Ned, Penny, Allegresse and Mackenzie attended The Stage Awards. Allegresse and Mackenzie received the award on stage and gave an excellent speech.

Thank you to;
Nick Hern Books our amazing collaborator for our Blueprint.
Unicorn Theatre for being a home for us when creating the project.
National Youth Theatre for opening their space so that we could have a chance to share our work when COVID caused some obstacles.

And thank you to everyone who is a part of this project! We are so proud of everyone who was involved in making this happen. We are excited for all the groups who have performed and will perform their own versions.
