My name is Sara, and I’m a young member of Company Three. I’m an actor and one of nine teenage co‑creators of Unfinished Business, showing at New Diorama Theatre in London from Wed 26 - Sat 29 August.

The play is set in the year 2100 and explores choice and ownership - why we make the decisions we do, what would happen if we rewrote past choices, and really, whether they are even our choices to begin with.

The prompt ‘Unfinished Business’ was vague when we first began to brainstorm what it might mean for our play. We began to play with the concept of possibility: the millions of ways a moment could have happened, and the choices we make and cannot erase. The play explores the way that the possibilities in life can weigh us down and make us feel lighter.

To make all these ideas come to life, we experimented with another medium of storytelling. Using a loop pedal, and truly trying to understand both the way music can mimic real sounds and evoke emotions and ideas, we developed a script with a live underscore. This, for me, is what really ties the play together, and gives it a unique emotional depth, and I’m incredibly excited to see how this experience changes the way the audience understands the play’s message.

I would recommend the play to any human being who wants to think about what truly makes us live, and I think the play is a very important insight into the vast worlds that exist in our minds, all the things we wish we could say, all the things we wish we could take back and all the ways that life shapes us.
